Our Celebrant this Sunday is the Rev. Betsy Anderson, who was baptized as a child, confirmed, married and ordained a deacon here at St. James’. Her grandparents also were parishioners. As an active member of the congregation before her ordination to the priesthood in 1998, she was a member of our Vestry, the volunteer coordinator of the children’s Sunday school as well as leader of an Adult Bible study for many years.
Since her 2014 retirement from St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Pacific Palisades, Betsy is “back in the pew” here, usually at the 8 a.m. service and is serving as Chaplain for the Rector search process. She thinks St. James’ is a gold mine of opportunity in multi-cultural ministry, and is excited about our future! Her children Neville and Mark, both graduated from St. James’ School, and Neville continues to be an active alumna in many ways.
