Earlier this month (June 8) at St. John’s Cathedral, the wonderful and gifted Jon Feuss was ordained as a transitional deacon; then, next year he will be ordained to the priesthood. (By contrast, vocational deacons remain deacons).
And here is the most exciting news…WE are the blessed church who will get to know/host/travel with him during this transition period and beyond. Jon will be with us on Sundays and also contribute in other important ways as he can. He does, however, have a full-time job (read about it in the article below), so his time with us may be somewhat limited. All the same, we will benefit profoundly, I know, from his presence! Look for Jon to join us in late August!
Peace and blessings,
More About the Rev. Jon Feuss
Though originally an East Coaster from New Jersey, over the last seven years Jon has fallen in love with Southern California. Six years ago, he began discerning a call to the priesthood with his sponsoring parish St. Bede’s in Mar Vista. After being granted postulancy, he attended the joint Master of Divinity program offered by Bloy House and Claremont School of Theology. Jon graduated this past May and was ordained to the transitional diaconate on June 8th. He has a passion for liturgy, sacred music, outreach, and exploring how to use technology to strengthen ministry in the twenty-first century.
During the week Jon is currently employed as the Director of HR Operations for the National Football League, working out of their Culver City office. He lives in Hermosa Beach with his husband Alex and his 110- pound “puppy” Barker. Jon very much looks forward to joining St. James’ on August 25th!
