Reviews are in for The Choir of Saint James’ first commercially recorded album, O BEAUTY EVER ANCIENT EVER NEW.
“This is a wonderful choral collection, full of variety and adventure, mostly radiant and serene but with moments of melancholy and subtle disturbance.” – Jack Sullivan, THE AMERICAN RECORD GUIDE
“This [recording] is nothing short of genius in its conception an execution. The dichotomy of past/present poetry comes to light in all that one hears.” – John Palmer, JOURNAL OF THE ASSOCIATION OF ANGLICAN MUSICIANS
In addition, the recording label, GOTHIC RECORDS, has submitted the album for consideration in two GRAMMY categories: 1. Best Choral Performance (for the album) and 2. Best Classical Composition for the title piece.
Needless to say, this is a great honor for the Choir, the Great Music at Saint James’ program, its director, Canon James Buonemani, and of course the church community it serves at St. James in-the-City on Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.
Members of the Recording Academy are encouraged to consider the album in their voting dockets this fall.
Great Music is happy to supply any voting member with a complimentary download of the complete album to review. Please contact GreatMusic@SaintJamesLA.org to request a download code.
