Midnight Toccatas and More!
This special concert features a prize-winning composition performed by internationally-acclaimed organists, David Briggs and Stephen Tharp. Midnight Toccatas by Aaron Travers, Associate Professor of Composition at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, was the winning work from among 42 entries in the Ruth and Clarence Mader Memorial Scholarship Fund’s 50th anniversary Composition Competition. In addition to each artist performing Midnight Toccatas separately in their own interpretations, the program also includes the organists’ own transcriptions of Ride of the Valkyries (Wagner), Carnival (Dvořák) and Daphnis et Chloe (Ravel). A bonus feature will be an interview and audience Q&A with Dr. Aaron Travers moderated by Dr. Frank Ticheli.
