Martin Glicklich, flute & Friends

Martin Glicklich has enjoyed success as an educator, soloist, conductor, chamber and orchestral musician, and has been described as possessing dazzling virtuosity with an enchanting, singing sound. A native of Los Angeles, Martin received his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in flute performance at the Thornton School of Music at USC under the tutelage of James Walker. He was given the Department of Music Award for Most Outstanding Doctoral Wind and Percussion Student. Previously, Martin had also studied with Walfrid Kujala at Northwestern University and  with Geraldine Rotella at California State University, Northridge. 

Martin has played in most of the orchestras in Southern California, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, and the Long Beach Symphony, among others. Working in many musical genres and styles, He has also collaborated with a variety of performing artists and can be heard on recordings of Neil Diamond, Harry Connick Jr., as well as with the Hollywood Klezmer Ensemble, among others. He has performed live with Marvin Hamlisch, Theodore Bikel, as well as with Marilyn Horne and Midori. Active in the motion picture recording industry, Martin can also be heard on a number of movies and television shows. 

Dedicated to teaching as well as performing, Martin has had students accepted as flute majors to the Colburn Conservatory, Thornton School of Music at USC, Herb Albert School of Music at UCLA, Manhatten School of Music, and NYU, among others. Former students have gone on to established careers as educators and performers. He currently teaches flute and coaches chamber music at La Sierra University where he is also the Director of the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts as well as their Summer Music Camp and Academy. Martin is also on the Board of Directors for the Southwestern Youth Music Festival, and just recently was appointed Co-Director of the Montecito International Music Festival. Martin currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife Carmina, and children Samuel and Sophia.
